Rains Drops Fell Upon Our Heads

The plan was to spend the day in the Quarter enjoying the 2013 French Quarter Festival,

which means a day of wonderful music.  It started out okay.  We walked to the Quarter bearing chairs and learning a bit of local history along the way.  After waiting about thirty minutes for the gates to open, we settled on the grass of Jackson Square to listen to the world famous Preservation Hall Band.  Toes tapped, shoulders swayed and hands clapped to their renditions of What a Wonderful World, Going to the Chapel and, of course, When the Saints Go Marching In.

Then there was a new sound, the warning of a thunderstorm headed our way.  One by one we gathered our things and headed to the relative safety of our coaches.

It is surprising how quiet this campground is.  Just a few blocks from the Quarter and right under the freeway, we are undisturbed by our neighbors.

Rumor has it a Voodoo Queen is interred there.

Our consolation for a rainy music day was dinner at Reginelli’s, a very tasty Italian restaurant.
